Dear Members and Friends of Crosspoint Church,
This is truly an exciting time in our church’s life! On Sunday, August 4, 2024, our congregation voted to plant a new church in neighboring Pendleton, South Carolina. After much prayer and discussion with the elders and my family, I am deeply humbled and incredibly excited to be sent out by Crosspoint, along with an incredible team, to start this new work.
Pendleton is a community experiencing significant growth, which is evident from just a short drive down Highway 76. We believe God is calling us to be part of this growth by establishing a faithful new church that will multiply disciples as we display and declare the gospel. Our vision of having TWO healthy churches committed to multiplying disciples is quickly becoming a reality, and you play a crucial role in this journey.
CHURCH PLANT NAME
Pendleton, SC, once known as Pendleton Village, is a charming historic town founded in 1790. At its heart lies the historic downtown Square and Village Green, a vibrant hub for community events that draw both local residents and visitors from Pickens, Anderson, and Greenville counties.
We’re excited to announce the name of the Pendleton Church Plant is Village Church of Pendleton!
The name Village Church appreciates Pendleton’s charming historical identity and as a descriptor that we are a village – a gathering of people in this community living gospel-revealing community (Eph. 2:19).
As a member or friend of Crosspoint, I would love for you to participate in this new work in three ways:
1) Winter Weekly Meetings Starting January 2025 and Other Key Dates
We are excited to begin weekly gatherings starting Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Crosspoint Church in Clemson (1019 Tiger Boulevard, Clemson, SC).
These meetings will be an essential time of preparation, fellowship, and alignment for our church. If you are considering becoming a planting member of Village Church of Pendleton, please attend each of these or communicate with Noah Squires if you are providentially hindered on some occasions.
Mark your calendars for these additional important upcoming events (service timeTBD):
2) Pray about where God wants you to “plant.”
Whether at Crosspoint Church or Village Church of Pendleton, I encourage you to seek God’s guidance on where He’s calling you to serve in the coming weeks and months. As you feel led to learn more about getting involved in the planning and preparation of Village Church, please take a moment to serving survey. Your input will be invaluable as we plan.
As Pastor Ken emphasized at our August 4 Members Meeting, “A vote to plant a church is a vote for all of us to roll up our sleeves and serve, whether at Crosspoint or in Pendleton.”
As you consider your place, here’s a preliminary timeline for the church plant:
3) Pray for the identification and securing of a meeting location.
Finding the right location to gather and worship in Pendleton is critical. Please pray that God will guide us to a meeting space that will meet our needs and serve as a welcoming and convenient place for the community. Our desired location is along the Highway 76 corridor from downtown Pendleton toward Sandy Springs.
4) Give to support this church plant.
Crosspoint church has created a fund where you can give to support this new work. On the giving portal, designate your gift to, “Pendleton Church Plant.”
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our mission of making disciples of all people for God’s glory. If I can serve you in any way, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’m here for you.
One Mission,
Pastor Jason
