  • God, in His nature, is generous. By creating this world and all its inhabitants, God welcomed us into His presence. And even amidst human rebellion, God offers salvation to each of us who are deserving of wrath.

     

    As God’s stewards, all of us are called to be generous. In particular, we see clear teaching in the New Testament for Christians to strategically give to and through local churches to see God’s kingdom advance in this world (Romans 15; 1 Corinthians 16; 2 Corinthians 8-9).

     We give because we worship the Giver. We give because we emulate the Savior, who made the greatest sacrifice of all. We give because we are a people transformed by the gospel and compelled to meet the needs of others and see the Great Commission fulfilled.

  • A tithe, by definition, is an offering of 10% of your financial wealth or material resources. We first see the concept of tithing in the Old Testament (Genesis 14:18-20; Genesis 28:20-22; Leviticus 27:30). Tithing is one of many tangible representations of giving God our best or “firstfruits”, “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce” (Proverbs 3:9). 

     While tithing may be a specific God-honoring practice for some, it’s important to remember that God is more concerned with the heart-motivation for our giving than the amount given (see Matthew 6:2-4; Luke 21:1-4). We are called to be cheerful givers, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). 

    An offering (unlike a tithe) can be for any amount of your financial wealth or material resources. Furthermore, an offering isn’t merely limited to material wealth or goods. God asks us to give all of our life as an offering unto Him (Romans 12:1). 

  • At Crosspoint we do a lot of things. We have ministries for the growing, the hurting, the searching, the lost, the found, the old, and the new. Yet in everything we do, we want to steward what God has entrusted to us. 

     Locally, we want to bless our community and nearby college campuses with age-specific ministries, equipping opportunities, and targeted evangelism. Like an aircraft carrier, we want to faithfully steward those that will one day launch to their next destination more prepared for the spiritual calling God has placed upon them. 

     Moving beyond our borders, our heart is to see churches fueled and multiplied. We partner with a number of church plants and movements in the U.S. and internationally. Specifically, Crosspoint is an active contributor to the Pillar Network, Los Pinos Nuevos in Cuba, and various other missionaries and teams serving with the International Mission Board and other missions agencies–many of whom have been sent by Crosspoint.
