Update on Regathering at Crosspoint Church

*Edited June 29 to reflect current face mask requirements and service time change to one 10:00 AM service.

Church Family,

We have been so encouraged by your faithfulness during this season when many of us have experienced various challenges and fear in response to COVID-19. Our life as a church on mission carries on! Thank you for your prayers and support for our church’s leadership as we have worked to facilitate digital means of worshiping and gathering in small groups.

Over the past several weeks, our re-entry task force constructed a terrific strategy for wisely resuming in-person worship services. This task force has consisted of elders, staff members, and church members bringing unique experience in logistics, planning, and medicine. At every step of this process, the health and safety of Crosspoint’s members and the Clemson community has been the utmost concern. Re-entry presents us all with a unique opportunity to exercise love for one another and love for our neighbor.

Church leadership has been and will continue monitoring the severity of COVID-19 on a national, state, and local level. As of today, due to the low number of cases in our region and guidance from governing officials, we feel comfortable entering into Phase 1 of a re-entry process. With this comes many necessary precautions to mitigate risk in these uncertain times.

Here are a few changes to expect during Phase 1:

    • Social Distancing – Chairs will be arranged in clusters for households to remain 6 ft apart.

    • Masks – In adherence to the recent mask ordinance passed by the city of Clemson, all attendees will be expected to wear a face mask. Face masks will be provided at check-in.

    • Increased Sanitation – Before, during, and after the service, our staff, volunteers, and third-party cleaners will ensure all common surfaces are properly disinfected and that rooms are adequately ventilated.

    • Limited Seating Capacity – Taking guidance from state officials, we will limit our worship spaces to approximately 20% of their normal capacity.

    • Children – We will not be opening nursery or kids’ worship. All children will remain seated with their parents.

    • Additional Seating Venues – To accommodate more worshippers, we will utilize three rooms in addition to the auditorium with a livestream video as needed.

    • RSVP Registration – To ensure we are able to stay within the suggested capacity limits we are asking everyone to sign up online for their preferred service time.

    • Adjusted Communal Space – To encourage social distancing, we will ask all worshippers to exit the building upon the completion of the service to fellowship in a designated and secure area in the parking lot.

When it is wise to do so, we will then launch Phase 2 re-entry in which we will increase seating capacity toward 50% and open the nursery for babies and preschoolers.  Phase 3 will expand to include Kids Worship.

We understand many in our membership are eager to return to in-person worship services but do not feel comfortable or personally safe doing so at this time. As we are “eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3) we want to comfort anyone who may feel guilty or embarrassed over a decision to worship at home for an additional period of time.

Our one 10:00 AM service will be live-streamed online and also will be posted to our app later in the day.

If our elders or staff can serve you in any way, please let us know.

In Christ,

The Elders of Crosspoint Church
